The Putnam County Domestic Violence Task Force, in partnership with Circle of Love, Mothers Against Crime, and the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office, held their annual candlelight vigils to raise awareness about domestic violence and honor those whose lives have been tragically affected by it.
This year, the first vigil occurred on August 30, 2024, during Gatewood School’s Friday night football game, followed by a second vigil on September 6, 2024, at Putnam County High School’s Friday night football game. Both events brought together the community to raise awareness of the ongoing issue of domestic violence and to remember those who have fallen victim to it.
“We stand together as a community to support survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and commit to ending the cycle of domestic violence,” said a representative from the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office.
Local leaders, advocates, survivors, and supporters attended the candlelight vigils, joining hands in a powerful display of unity and remembrance. By holding these events at two major community gatherings, the Task Force aimed to spread a message of hope, resilience, and prevention, reaching a wide audience of local residents.
The Putnam County Domestic Violence Task Force, alongside its partners, continues its unwavering efforts to provide resources, support, and education to prevent domestic violence and protect victims. These candlelight vigils serve as a powerful reminder of the strength of the community and its steadfast commitment to creating a safer future for everyone.
