Child Advocate and Youth Leader 

Location: Greensboro, GA

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: 32-40 hours per week 

Position Overview

The Child Advocate is responsible for supporting children residing in our shelter and educating local students about dating violence. This position focuses on empowering youth to identify relationship “red flags” and fostering the development of healthy interpersonal relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to children in the shelter, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with local schools to deliver educational workshops on dating violence and relationship health.
  • Teach youth the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships and how to recognize warning signs.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate programming for children and teens.
  • Advocate for children’s needs within the shelter and community.
  • Assist with occasional childcare to support parents participating in shelter programs and activities.

Shelter Manager 

Reports To: Executive Director
Employment Type: Full-Time, non-exempt
Location: Circle of Love Center, Inc.

Position Overview

The Shelter Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the domestic violence shelter, ensuring a safe, supportive, and confidential environment for clients. This position includes managing shelter staff, coordinating services for residents, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Shelter Manager plays a critical role in fostering a trauma-informed, inclusive, and empowering atmosphere for individuals and families seeking refuge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Management:

    • Oversee the shelter’s day-to-day operations, ensuring it is clean, secure, and well-maintained.

    • Monitor safety and security measures, including adherence to confidentiality protocols.

    • Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and supplies in collaboration with external vendors or internal teams.

  • Client Services:

    • Provide oversight of client intake, assessment, and ongoing support plans in collaboration with advocates.

    • Ensure clients’ needs are met, including housing, legal, medical, and counseling services, by coordinating with internal staff and external partners.

    • Mediate conflicts among residents when necessary and maintain a respectful and safe environment.

    • Uphold trauma-informed care practices and cultural competence in all client interactions.

  • Staff Management:

    • Supervise and provide guidance to night and weekend advocates.

    • Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage.

    • Conduct regular team meetings, provide ongoing training, and foster professional development.

    • Address staff performance concerns in a timely and constructive manner.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including incident reports, client files, and compliance documentation.

    • Develop and enforce shelter policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

    • Prepare regular reports on shelter operations, occupancy rates, and client outcomes for leadership or grant reporting.

    • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.

  • Community and Partner Collaboration:

    • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

    • Represent the shelter at community meetings, outreach events, and training sessions.

    • Advocate for the needs of clients and the shelter within the community.

    • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, domestic violence dynamics, and client advocacy.
    • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, including confidentiality and mandatory reporting requirements.
    • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, client databases).
    • Availability for occasional after-hours emergencies.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bilingual or multilingual skills.
    • Experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
    • Familiarity with grant-funded program operations and reporting requirements.

    Work Environment:

    • This position requires on-site work at the shelter facility.
    • Exposure to emotionally challenging situations is common, and self-care is encouraged and supported.
    • Occasional travel for training or partner meetings may be required.
